Barack Obama’s historic campaign is regarded as one of the most effective presidential campaigns ever run.  The use of technology can be attributed to a lot of his success.  No other campian has taken advantage of modern advertisement as well as Obama has.  His use of online advertisement has proven especially successful.

            Many credit the success of campains directly to the amount of money the campaign has to use.  While campaign funds are definitely not the only factor that determines the outcome of an election, they do play a key role in any election.   Obama’s campaign was able to considerably out-spend McCain’s.  He was the first presidential nomine to allow donations of any size to be received directly on his website through the internet.  This encouraged donations because voters were able to easily donate funds to the Obama campaign.   

            A candidate’s website is a main source of information to many voters.  Barack Obama’s website allowed voters to easily access information about himself on his website.  His website is well organized and presents a clear and positive message to viewers.  It also contains useful videos of Obama advertisements and other informative videos. 

            Not only has Barack Obama brought about change by becoming the first African-American president, but also the way campaigns will be ran.  He has set a precedent for future candidates on how to successfully use the internet to advertise.

ENIAC- short for Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer,^[1][2] was the first general-purpose electronic computer. It was the size of a gymnasium.  Swithces were operated manually to compute simple mathematical problems. It was desgined for the U.S.A military to calculate artillery trajectories.

Vaccum Tube- in electronics, a vacuum tube, electron tube (in North America), thermionic valve, or just valve (elsewhere, especially in Britain) is a device used to amplify, switch, otherwise modify, or create an electrical signal by controlling the movement of electrons in a low-pressure space. They were a couple inches long.

Transistors-    a transistor is a semiconductor device commonly used to amplify or switch electronic signals. A transistor is made of a solid piece of a semiconductor material, with at least three terminals for connection to an external circuit. A voltage or current applied to one pair of the transistor’s terminals changes the current flowing through another pair of terminals. Because the controlled power can be much larger than the controlling power, the transistor provides amplification of a signal. The transistor is the fundamental building block of modern electronic devices, and is used in radio, telephone, computer and other electronic systems. Turing machine- 

Turing machines are basic abstract symbol-manipulating devices which, despite their simplicity, can be adapted to simulate the logic of any computer algorithm. They were described in 1936 by Alan Turing. Turing machines are not intended as a practical computing technology, but a thought experiment about the limits of mechanical computation. Thus they were not actually constructed. Studying their abstract properties yields many insights into computer science and complexity theory.

Apple Computers-

The Apple I, also known as the Apple-1, was an early personal computer. They were designed and hand-built by Steve Wozniak.^[1][2] Wozniak’s friend Steve Jobs had the idea of selling the computer. The Apple I was Apple‘s first product, demonstrated in April 1976 at the Homebrew Computer Club in Palo Alto, California. It went on sale in July 1976 at a price of $666.66^[3], because Wozniak liked repeating digits^[4] and because they originally sold it to a local shop for $500 and added a one-third markup. About 200 units were produced. Unlike other hobbyist computers of its day, which were sold as kits, the Apple I was a fully assembled circuit board containing about 30 chips. However, to make a working computer, users still had to add a case, power supply, keyboard, and display. An optional board providing a cassette interface for storage was later released at a cost of $75.

Bill Gates first product was the DOS operating system. He made his money by licensing his operating system to companies. This revolutionized the industry becuase others followed him.

LCD: A liquid crystal display (LCD) is an electro-optical amplitude modulator realized as a thin, flat display device made up of any number of color or monochrome pixels arrayed in front of a light source or reflector.

Plasma (in relation to screens) : A plasma display panel (PDP) is a type of flat panel display now commonly used for large TV displays (typically above 37-inch or 940 mm). Many tiny cells located between two panels of glass hold an inert mixture of noble gases (neon and xenon). The gas in the cells is electrically turned into a plasma which then excites phosphors to emit light.
